Processing and delivery of the FJA press card

After you apply online, we activate your digital press card as soon as your payment has been received, check your application and post the printed card. Production and dispatch usually take 14–18 working days after payment. Postage is free within the European Union and €6.99 per order to the UK and all other countries.

This page explains each step, what you need to do and what to do if something goes wrong.

From application to card in your hand

Six steps – most of them happen without you having to do anything.

Apply online

Upload your photo, enter your details and choose 12, 24 or 36 months. You confirm that you are 18 or older and work journalistically. It takes about five minutes.

Pay securely

Pay with PayPal, credit or debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or a local payment method. Payment is processed by PayPal.

Digital press card

As soon as your payment has been received, your digital press card is activated. You receive an email with the link and a PDF of the front and back.

Application check

We review every application before printing. If anything is unclear, we contact you by email. If we decline an application, you receive a full refund.

Printing

Your card is printed on a durable PVC card in ID-1 format (85.6 × 54 mm) – the size of a bank card.

Posting

The card is sent by post to the delivery address you gave. Please check the address carefully when you order.

Delivery times and postage

Times are estimates and are counted from receipt of payment.

United Kingdom

Postage €6.99 per order. Production and dispatch usually take 14–18 working days after payment.

European Union

Postage is free. Production and dispatch usually take 14–18 working days after payment.

USA and other countries

Postage €6.99 per order. Dispatch as above; transit times depend on local postal services and can be longer.

The 14–18 working days include the check of your application. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Your digital press card is available much earlier – usually right after payment.

Your digital press card

Included with every FJA press card at no extra cost.

Open it on your phone

Open your digital press card from My press card in your customer account and save it to your home screen. It shows your card and its current status.

PDF with front and back

For security reasons, the PDF link in the activation email expires after 30 days. A current download link is always available in your customer account.

Always up to date

The verification page behind the QR code shows whether the card is valid. If an order is cancelled or refunded, it shows the card as not valid. How verification works

What it is not

The digital press card supplements the printed card. Like the printed card, it is not an official document and does not guarantee access, accreditation or discounts.

Changes, cancellation and problems

Write to help@presseausweis-beantragen.com and include your order number.

Wrong details or address

Email us as soon as possible. Until production starts we can usually correct details. If a card is returned because of an incorrect address, we contact you; re-delivery may incur postage.

Cancelling your order

You can cancel free of charge until production of your card starts and receive a full refund, including postage. Details: cancellation policy.

Card has not arrived

If your card has not arrived within 18 working days plus the usual postal transit time to your country, email us with your order number and we will look into it.

Card lost or stolen

Tell us straight away so that we can help and, where possible, update the card’s status on the verification page. A new card can be ordered at any time: renewal and replacement.

How long does it take to get an FJA press card?

Production and dispatch usually take 14–18 working days after payment, including the check of your application. Transit times outside the UK and the EU depend on local postal services. Your digital press card is usually available right after payment.

How much is postage?

When is my digital press card activated?

As soon as your payment has been received. You then receive an email with the link and a PDF, and you can open the card at any time from My press card in your customer account.

Can I get my card faster?

There is currently no express option. Please order in good time before an event – the digital press card is available right after payment.

What happens if my application is declined?

You receive a full refund to your original payment method, and the card is shown as not valid on the verification page.
