Cancellation and refund policy

You can cancel your press card order free of charge until production starts, and you get a full refund if we decline your application. Because the card is personalised with your name and photo, the statutory 14-day right to cancel does not apply to it – our voluntary cancellation right replaces it until production begins.

Why the statutory cancellation right does not apply

Consumers who buy goods online in the UK usually have 14 days to cancel after delivery under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Regulation 28(1)(b) excludes goods that are made to the consumer’s specifications or are clearly personalised. Your press card is printed with your name, photo, date of birth, nationality, signature and an individual card number, so it falls under this exception. Similar rules apply to consumers in the European Union.

Our voluntary cancellation right

We nevertheless want you to be able to change your mind. You can therefore cancel your order free of charge at any time until production of your card starts. Production starts only after we have reviewed and approved your application.

How to cancel: send an email to help@presseausweis-beantragen.com with your order number and the words “I cancel my order”. You can also write to Freelance Journalists Association, International House, 776-778 Barking Road, London E13 9PJ, United Kingdom.

Refund: we refund the full amount, including postage, to the payment method you used, within 14 days of receiving your cancellation. You do not pay any fee for the refund.

If we decline your application

We review every application before printing. If you do not meet the requirements – for example because you are under 18 or do not work journalistically – we decline the application, do not produce a card and refund the full amount paid, including postage, usually within 14 days.

Faulty, misprinted or damaged cards

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected. If your card arrives faulty, misprinted by us or damaged in transit, contact us with your order number and a photo of the card. We will replace it free of charge or, where the law provides, refund you. Errors in details you entered yourself are not a fault; contact us and we will help you find a solution.
