These terms apply to every order of the FJA press card placed on presscard-application.com. Please read them before you order. They do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

1.1 These terms and conditions (“Terms”) govern the sale of the FJA press card (“Card”) by the Freelance Journalists Association, International House, 776-778 Barking Road, London E13 9PJ, United Kingdom (“FJA”, “we”, “us”). 1.2 These Terms apply to orders placed by consumers and by business customers. Where a provision applies only to consumers, we say so. A consumer is an individual acting for purposes wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession.
1.3 The contract language is English. We do not file the contract text separately; you receive the order details by email and can view and download this page at any time.
2.1 The Card is an association press card issued by the FJA. It identifies the holder as a person who works journalistically and carries a personal card number and a QR code linked to an online verification page provided by our verification partner.
2.2 The Card is not the UK Press Card issued through the UK Press Card Authority, it is not an official, governmental or police document, and it does not confer any legal right or privilege. In particular, it does not guarantee access to events, venues, cordons or institutions, accreditation, information from authorities, free entry or discounts. Organisers, venues, authorities and other third parties decide in their own discretion whether and how they recognise the Card.
2.3 Ordering a Card does not create a membership of the FJA and does not oblige you to make any further payments.
3.1 You may only order a Card for yourself and only if, at the time of ordering, (a) you are at least 18 years old and (b) you work journalistically on a regular basis, as described on our requirements page. There are no exceptions to the minimum age, including with parental consent.
3.2 You must provide true, complete and current information and a photo that shows you. A third party may pay for an order, but the Card must be applied for with the holder’s own details.
3.3 We may ask you to provide examples of your journalistic work before we approve your application.
4.1 The presentation of the Card on our website is not a binding offer. By completing the order process and clicking the order button you make an offer to buy the Card. You pay the price when you place the order.
4.2 We send you an automatic email confirming receipt of your order. This confirmation is not an acceptance of your offer.
4.3 We review every application. The contract is concluded when we approve your application and begin production, or when we tell you by email that your application has been approved, whichever is earlier. If we decline your application, no contract is concluded and we refund the full amount paid, including postage, to the original payment method, usually within 14 days.
4.4 Before you submit your order you can review and correct your entries in the order process.
5.1 Prices are stated in euros (EUR) and are final prices; where VAT applies it is included. Current prices: €95 for a validity of 12 months, €150 for 24 months and €180 for 36 months. Postage is free within the European Union and €6.99 per order to the United Kingdom and all other countries. The prices shown in the order process at the time of your order apply.
5.2 Payments are processed by PayPal and its payment services. Available methods may include debit and credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and local payment methods depending on your country. Your bank or card issuer may charge currency conversion fees if your account is not in euros.
5.3 You receive an invoice by email.
6.1 Approved Cards are produced on a PVC card in ID-1 format and sent by post to the delivery address you provide. Production and dispatch usually take 14–18 working days after payment; delivery times outside the United Kingdom and European Union depend on local postal services. Delivery times are estimates.
6.2 Please check your delivery address. If a Card is returned to us because of an incorrect address supplied by you, we will contact you; re-delivery may incur postage.
6.3 If you are a consumer, the Card is your responsibility from the time it is delivered to you or to a person you name.
6.4 Colours may differ slightly from the preview shown on the website because of the printing process. The emblem on the Card is not a hologram.
7.1 The Card is made to your specifications and clearly personalised with your name, photo and other details. Under regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (and corresponding rules for consumers in the EU), the statutory right to cancel does not apply to such goods.
7.2 Regardless of this, we give you a voluntary right to cancel free of charge until production of your Card starts. To use it, email help@presseausweis-beantragen.com with your order number. We refund the full amount, including postage, to the original payment method within 14 days of receiving your cancellation. Once production has started, the order can no longer be cancelled. 8.1 The Card is valid for the period you choose (12, 24 or 36 months), starting on the date of issue.
8.2 There is no automatic renewal. If you wish to hold a Card after expiry, you may place a new order; the requirements in section 3 apply again.
9.1 The Card is personal and non-transferable. You may use it only for your journalistic work and in accordance with our usage guidelines, which form part of these Terms.
9.2 You must not use the Card to obtain private advantages, to mislead others about your identity, role or employer, to present it as an official or police document, or for any unlawful purpose.
9.3 We may revoke the Card with immediate effect if you provided false information in your application or seriously or repeatedly breach section 9 or the usage guidelines. A revoked Card is no longer valid and must not be used. If we revoke a Card because of false information or misuse, you are not entitled to a refund, unless the law requires otherwise.
10.1 If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015: the Card must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If your Card is faulty, misprinted by us or damaged in transit, please contact us with your order number and a photo. We will replace it or, where the law provides, refund you.
10.2 Errors in the details you entered are not a fault of the Card; we will help you to correct them where possible.
11.1 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
11.2 We are not responsible for decisions of third parties, such as organisers, venues, police or authorities, to refuse access, accreditation, information or any benefit to a Card holder, because these decisions are outside our control and we do not promise any such benefit.
11.3 If we fail to comply with these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach, but not for loss or damage that is not foreseeable. For business customers, our total liability arising from the contract is limited to the price paid for the Card, except as set out in 11.1.
12.1 We process personal data in accordance with our privacy policy.
12.2 If you have a complaint, please contact us first at help@presseausweis-beantragen.com. We aim to respond within 14 days. We do not currently participate in alternative dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer dispute body. The former EU online dispute resolution platform was discontinued in July 2025.
12.3 These Terms and the contract are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you are habitually resident. Consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may bring proceedings in their local courts; other disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
12.4 If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
