Press sign for your car: what it does and what it does not
A “Press” sign in your car window has no legal status in the UK. It does not allow you to park where others may not, to ignore traffic rules or to drive into closed areas. The Highway Code’s rules on waiting and parking apply to journalists like everyone else.
Some journalists use a dashboard sign so that police or stewards understand why a car is near an incident or venue. This guide explains when that can make sense and when it does not.
