About the FJA press card
The FJA press card is an association press card issued by the Freelance Journalists Association (FJA), London. It identifies the holder as a person who works journalistically and can be verified by anyone via the QR code on the card. It is aimed at journalists, freelancers, photographers, bloggers, content creators, podcasters and student journalists aged 18 or over who publish regularly.
What the card is – and what it is not
The card is not the UK Press Card issued through the UK Press Card Authority, it is not an official or state document, and it does not create any right of access, accreditation, information or discounts. Organisers, venues and authorities decide case by case. Compare the options on press card comparison UK.
How the application works
- Upload a recent passport-style photo (JPG or PNG). It is cropped automatically.
- Enter your name, date of birth, nationality and a signature text of up to 50 characters.
- Choose 12, 24 or 36 months, confirm that you are 18 or over and work journalistically, and pay.
- We review your application and may ask for examples of your work. Checking, production and printing usually take 14–18 working days from receipt of payment. Approved cards are then posted: delivery usually takes 3–7 working days within Europe and up to 14 working days outside Europe. Your digital press card is available as soon as payment is received.
